Hi, my ex is due sentencing this coming week.
I gave him a supporting letter that his solicitor really liked. He's been my carer for about the last year or so. However, due to an issue - neighbour recognised him somehow and phoned the Police wanting information, he can no longer visit. Devastating for my son and I but hey, must keep the public placated.
My question is, the ex can no longer care for me or my son (yeah, great, make our lives even harder). But I wrote a supporting letter saying he's my carer, because he was, but he'll never be again thanks to my neighbours. He can't come here anymore. What do I do about the supporting letter? He's due sentencing on Wednesday and has a crappy Legal Aid solicitor. Please help. I don't want to be seen as claiming something that's now impossible. X

Oh Robin, that's a tricky situation and I don't really have an answer except to suggest that your ex tells his solicitor that situation has changed since you wrote the letter and then let the solicitor decide what to do.
I really hope that the hearing goes ahead next week and will be keeping you in my thoughts.

Although not completely satisfactory can you add something to your original statement to say that because of the strong possibility of other's threatening behaviour your OH can't provide the practical care you rely on now, but you and your son do still rely on his emotional care which could continue via FaceTimes and regular check-ins.
