Moving back home?

How long did it take for your person to be allowed to move back home from the knock? And what kind of obstacles did you or they have to face? Nearly a year and still waiting for forensic examination, not feeling very hopeful for the future :(
Presume you have children and SS are involved? Have you looked at different safety plans at all?
Hi,
my partner has just started to move back in. We are four years post sentencing but a lot depends on personal circumstances and ss. I ended the relationship initially and have had a relatively easy time with ss because they classed me as protective pretty early on and I've done lots of work to build my knowledge before going back to them. We've taken things very slowly and I think this has helped a lot because I've gone into it with eyes wide open about potential risks to our daughter both now and in the future xxx

Thanks for your replies.
Yes we have a 2 year old. Social services closed our case pretty early on and just said to continue following bail conditions set out by police until the police change them.
When he is charged and social services become involved again, would it be they would look at his risk level, courses for him to do to work on himself, safety plans etc? And then they would decide if he is able to come back home? To be honest when social services closed our case they didn't really give a lot of details as to what happens after sentencing and everything else so feeling quite lost about it all.

My partner was charged almost straight away and following sentencing it was down to probation and offender manager to determine his risk level. It might be wise once bail conditions are lifted to agree/suggest that you will follow no unsupervised contact until the investigation is concluded. Your OH could look into the inform or engage plus course via LFF. If he is sentenced to the horizon course that could be useful for him too.
For yourself there is an inform for family which I found very helpful. I've also done the breaking the cycle course through circles south east which was gruelling at times but informative. As your daughter is so young then starting to talk to her about privacy and autonomy when toilet training is a good starting point. Using anatomically correct words for body parts, teaching her about knocking on doors, who can help her to bathe etc and outlining this in your family keep safe plan would be good. How will you build on her knowledge and understanding? Who are her safe and trusted adults if anything makes her uncomfortable?
I'm happy for you to private message me if you have any questions xxx

SS usually close the case when the investigation is ongoing as the bail conditions protect the child. Once bail conditions are lifted and they get involved with you again chances are that they will still not let him live at home. I'll just give you my history to put it into context. OH committed his offence in August 2023 and he is still not allowed to live at the house. He got involved in an online chat with no images involved, given a non custodial sentence and is not on the SOR or given a SHPO. Daughter is on a CPP and the safety plan says he is not allowed to live at home and I have to supervise contact. I've ended up getting a solicitor involved as SS have literally done nothing to help us since the CPP was put in place. We have our conference review next week and SW has already told us the CPP is remaining in place. It has been horrendous for us xx
It took 4ish months post sentencing for us, we did a lot of work up to and after sentencing to make that happen, and the move back happened over a gradual 6 week period combined with a gradual increase of unsupervised contact. After the 6 weeks were up we stayed open on a cin plan for 4 more weeks and then closed with no restrictions. Hope that gives you some hope.
We created robust safety plans, ensured up to date research was taken into account and he worked very actively and positively with all services whilst I made it clear the child safety was my number 1 priority and evidenced how we would manage should the risks not support him coming home. You need to show youve thought of all eventualities
