Brief history it's come to light that my husband has had an addiction to online chat rooms for many years only speaking with women which myself as his wife had no idea about. We have x2 children 10&12 we are closed for now with social services with a safety plan in place for supervised contact by myself and he's unable to live at home. My husband was arrested at the start of feb 2025 for online sexual communication with a child a decoy was used. Today devices have been checked and all x3 of them are clear with no indecent images found. The police was also unable to locate the conversation on his phone and just have evidence of my husband downloading the app used for this and then deleting it. The investigating officer has said in the next week this will be sent to CPS to advice on next steps and should approx take around 4 weeks for this. My husbands bail has just been extended as was running out this week. My husband did send a few pictures of his self ( one in boxers and one out of boxers with some showing) my husband has attended weekly counciling since day 1. Has anyone been through similar and can advise me on what to expect punishment wise? And how difficult it will be to get my husband back home? I am struggling to navigate life right now under these circumstances and no idea what the future holds for us both but won't have any idea of this until it's tried my trust for him has completely gone.
If its a decoy, then you would expect the police to have full details of the conversation. The outcome depends on what was said and there are a number of different charges they could bring, with some, like incitement, being more serious than others.
Yes they have a copy of the conversation. Police are saying very low level offence. Can't believe we're all here in this same mess ????
