I have been listening to Flowers by Miley Cyrus an awful lot recently, for some reason usually while I'm doing the dishwasher. It's incredibly cathartic when I'm feeling broken, and empowering when I'm feeling resilient.
I highly recommend it; not my usual taste in music and my daughters are probably sick to death of hearing it but it's medicine.

I've also been lifting increasingly heavy weights. I now do 4 x full body workouts a week, at 6am powered by coffee, and I'm physically stronger than I've ever been. I was doing decorating over Easter weekend and found I could lift bedside tables over my head, etc. It makes me feel literally and mentally powerful.

To put it in words Miley would understand:

I can brew my own coffee

Pull the bins to the curb

Get the kids up in the morning

When you aren't there to disturb

I can hear myself thinking

I can be my own friend

Oh I can love me better than

you, you bellend

To be clear, we're currently separated but amicably 'coparenting', ie me supervising everything so I'm basically constantly stressed and exhausted when he's over here. Pending charges and sentencing etc.

Miley has been popping into my head too over the last few months. I wonder if she knows how powerful her words are? Another one that's always helped me throughout my life is Hold On by Wilson Phillips.

I know this pain (I know this pain)Why do you lock yourself up in these chains? (these chains)No one can change your life except for youDon't ever let anyone step all over youJust open your heart and your mind (mmm)Is it really fair to feel, this way inside? (woah)Some day somebody's gonna make you want to turn around and say goodbyeUntil then, baby, are you going to let 'em hold you down and make you cry?Don't you know?Don't you know, things can changeThings'll go your wayIf you hold... on for one more dayCan you hold... on for one more day?Things'll go your way...Hold on for one more day

And your power gained from exercise is inspiring. Thanks for sharing xx
