What are people's experiences in terms of next steps and timelines?

We had the knock last week, arrested for distribution of iioc on Kik but no knowledge of having done anything and he has a new bail meeting at the station mid July. They said it could take 18 months for the investigation.

Probably silly question but is it sensible to find a specialty solicitor asap? Have people found them to be of use?

How has it typically gone for others in terms of timeline, do they typically stick to the timeline but keep extending?

Sorry! Super new here and really worried about what comes next

I'm so sorry that you are going through this and find yourself here.

We got the knock march 2024. April he went to court to move from police bail to court bail.

he then went back to court at the start of this month for a preliminary hearing. He's seeing a CJSW to have a background report and is back for final hearing next month.

not sure if that will help but that was the timeline in our area (I'm in Scotland)

I'm sorry you join us.

Most imoortant things in these first few days/ weeks is be kind to yourself. I'm sure you will be desperately trying to support your person, but don't forget to take time to process, cry amd eat yourself. Its a nightmare situation you can't believe you have landed in

It's going to be a long haul. Presume that bail will keep getting extended.

We applointed specialist legal help very quickly after the knock. This, although expensive (very) does allow you a little control over the situation from a team who have represented people accused of these crimes a thousand times over.

Currently over a year into this with no sign of movement. It's become the new norm.

Feel free to message if I can be of any help.

Sorry your dealing with this also ): we got the knock July 2023, was bailed for 10 month then RUI and has been ever since. We're nearly 2 years down the line and we still haven't had any news. I would 100% get a solicitor they can advise and chase things up for you. But like previous comments prepare yourself for a lonnnnnnng drawn out process. Don't be hard on yourself and reach out for support when needed. The worst place you can be is in your own head at times like this, x

Sorry your dealing with this x

OH was arrested in Feb 22 and was sentenced July 24, so just over 2 years. OH was RUI for the whole time.

We had a specialist solicitor, for in touch around the 1 year mark. We was told to contact them once charges came through, which is what we did x

We are similar to MC96, knock was Feb 22, but with us we are still awaiting charges - 3 years and 3 months later. It's unbelievable, but it does seem like we are one of a few worse case scenarios in terms of timescales. I sincerely hope you won't have the same experience. I think we were continually pushed to the bottom of the pile because of the age of our children (they are now adults!)
