Hi, I've tried to get some free legal advice about reporting restrictions. I asked if it was possible to get the reporting of the case restricted and if so, on what grounds? I was told it is possible but that I'd need to contact the court direct, which I've done. But I'm up against the clock as sentencing is due on 13/5. I'm asking if the reporting could be restricted to referring to the arrest address and not the address the offender now lives at as that's the same town as myself and our adult child live in. I'm wondering if I can get the restriction on the grounds of mine and my child's vulnerability. I'm currently under the local mental health team and have been allocated a community psychiatric nurse. This is a direct result of my exs reoffending and the cPTSD I have as I'm going through this for a second time. It just feels so very unfair. I'm struggling so much with it all. I can't pay for legal help and won't be able to get legal aid for this. Anyone know of it's doable and how? Thanks so much.

It is doable, but incredibly rare. The test is very high.

"In practical terms, the applicant will have to provide clear and cogent evidence to show that publication of his/her name and/or address will create or materially increase a risk of death or serious injury."

Unfortunately it's unlikely that you'd get a restriction on reporting unless you or your child are directly named on the case

Media don't always report
Its 50/50 really if they are there and if the police decide to publish it on Facebook

Went through a similar thing and his solicitor advised us not to do anything as your only bringing it to the police's attention and it's more likely to be published
