I've been reading (prob shouldn't really do that) - I get the difference between the categories and making/possession/distribution etc
But are photographs treated differently to videos? That's one bit I can't work out

The answer to this is not really, although according to the sentencing guidelines they should be.
The guidelines say that moving images (videos) are an aggravating factor. I think this is a hangover from the early days, when videos were rare. But today a person will probably have lots of videos as well as lots of photos, so the focus is more on the category.

Thanks! That makes everything I've read make sense!
