Passport control (I’ve got questions)
Notifications OFF
Hi all, I'm looking for people who've travelled abroad with there partner since being on the SoR.
Any issues going through the destination countries passport control? If so what type of questions? Will they know about the nature of conviction? He's been told he won't have a green notice issued to his passport and they're happy for him to travel.
what countries have people been to and what was your experience like?
would appreciate any detailed responses to this.
Thanks

Hi we haven't had no issues we have been away to Dubai and Turkey it has not been a problem but he has to let ppu know he is going away and who he is going with .
Thank you so much! Did he get asked any questions or did he just go straight through?
My partner didn't travel abroad till after he came off of SOR in 2016, but he's had no problems since travelling to Turkey, Ireland, Italy and France.
France on the ferry no issue whilst on SOR.
I thought possibly a few extra questions on the way back in (very friendly along the lines of did you have a good time so might have been my imagination), nothing at all on the way out

Thank you can I ask are the trips people mention all recent?
Hi yes we went in April this year last year turkey no issues at all just have to let ppu know x
The trips I mentioned were from 2017 onwards, the most recent was March last year to France. My partner said he used the first trip to Ireland almost as a test to see if he would be stopped by boarder control.
Thank you all really appreciate the responses hopefully helps others who are also anxious.
Hi,
We did Malta last year, no issues at all going out. Couldn't get through e-gate in UK but a couple of questions and he was straight through.
Hope that helps

We have just literally got back from Turkey a couple of days ago. I was worried that my friend would not get in to Turkey and was really anxious a few days before, so was he.
I can safely say that going out was fine, on arriving at Turkey got to the passport control and I went first, when I got through I stood behind the passport desk to see if anything would come up when my friend had his passport scanned. Nothing come up on the screen and he breezed through, no questions no nothing, just a quick stamp and he was through. We decided to stay and have a peek at the next person coming through and their screen was exactly the same as my friends, so there was nothing marked on the passport, nothing at all..Coming back through Turkey passport control on the way home again no questions etc.
You cannot get through the e gates on entrance to the UK, my friend scanned his passport and it comes up saying " seek assistance" , he then went to the seek assistance desk and was just asked a few questions, they were , where have you been, how long, and who with, that's it.. Then went straight through.
I'm guessing that because he let PPU know his travel plans (which he had to) before he went they would know when he was supposed to be back in the country, there is obviously something on it for their purposes but nothing serious enough to stop him travelling abroad.
I hope this puts people's minds at rest as I know that it can be stressful times for both.
Happy holidays and above all, enjoy yourselves and make great memories..x

We travelled to Crete last year and at the passport control on arrival, my OH was asked to go through to a separate room where we needed to supply the details of our stay and return flights. It was a little bit scary as it was the first time we had travelled abroad since the SOR and all of our documents were digital so it was a bit of back and forth to get the correct email address to send these over to, but there was no unpleasant treatment at all. My advice would be to print these documents so it's easy to provide if needed - we didn't think to do this but it would've made life easier! On arrival back to the UK my OH wasn't able to use the e-gate as expected but other than that no problems at all.
