Well my son was due to attend Crown Court tomorrow for plea hearing...... is now adjourned until next month.

Solicitor has sent over some files that the prosecution are using as evidence and one of them is of a chat with an adult being enticed into a conversation of 'age' my son initially start 20's-30's and the other person keeps asking more leading questions then my son says 'maybe teens'.

Will they now be seeking to issue him with communication charges with this chat thread??

He is vehemently denying knowing this conversation took place and even stressed that I don't text/chat the way it is worded.

I am very aware I am completely biased and want to believe everything he tells me.

This information has been there right from the searchs of his devices were completed and we are only now today been made aware of this evidemce, nothing was mentioned in his voluntary interview, when charges were officially received or when attending magistrates for plea hearing, we are just so confused and stressed about this.

Hello Mummy-to-lots

I am sorry that court has been adjourned. However, if you have been sent the files today it gives you the opportunity to go over them with a fine-tooth comb. I say this from experience as it can be full of errors and it gives you the time to query anything that doesn't make sense or is factually incorrect.

Thinking of you and your son.

"Teen" is too vague, surely? He COULD have meant 18/19.

Thank you Alison - this is what we are intending on doing.

Little Robin - yes I initially thought this and I know prosecution will try and twist this bit a little further on thread the other person states 'oh sure you could go lower and son replies 'ok'. I feel for a little bit of self gratification (son wanted pics of this person) he has just massively implicated himself. Oh and their forensic pulled words so there a quite a few chats with 'daddy' also being used as evidence (even text message to myself and husband where he call his dad daddy)

Not sure if i'm following correctly but is it that a chat has been found in which you son has been talking to another adult whilst potentially roleplaying a child? I guess it could be charged under obscene publications act, but in effect he is doing much the same thing police and vigilante decoys are doing.

I think they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel a bit by using 'daddy' as evidence, for example thats quite a commonly used phase in the gay community to refer to an older gay man. Not that I'm suggesting your son is gay but just giving examples of how it can be used in other contexts than what they are suggesting.

Hi Mummy-to-lots

Just a thought......

The files may show if they are planning to apply a SHPO. This again gives you the opportunity to discuss with your solicitor if you plan to challenge it.

Hi 26a20 - chat was found on device where he and another male were discussing ages they like, he is gay and autistic and very easily led (no excuses whatsoever) my son initially said 20's to 30's age range and then as conversation went on he lower that age range to keep other guy interested. Prosecution are using this as evidence but he hasn't received any charges for this so was wondering can more charges be added??

Alison - no mention of shpo - this is another thing thats worrying me, he doesn't care about losing social media or even not having a phone, tv, sky etc but he would really like to be able to keep online gaming, which I now believe could also be heavily restricted.

Thanks for clarifying, as someone else said earlier 'teen' is very vague, I can’t remember who it was but I'm sure I have seen a post on here where the fact that teen could mean 18/19 year old was used as a successful defence.
