Mugshots, background info… court queries!

Hi lovely trauma-bonded strangers.
I have a couple of Qs for the collective wisdom, and wonder if anyone else wants to jump in with their court queries.
1. When is the mugshot taken? My husband hasn't had one yet, and is due in court next Thursday.
2. will 'background info' - that doesn't form part of the charges - be put before the court? In my husband's case it's 2 incidents of appalling lack of morals / judgement / decency but they aren't charging him for those as they aren't black and white illegal. They have the conversation with the police decoy to charge with attempted communication so don't need to pursue the others. But to me they're more shocking than what he's being charged with, so would be more interesting to sensationalist reporters.

Hi, my ex's mugshot was taken when he was was arrested.
Before sentencing, a pre sentence report is often done by probation. This goes into every aspect of the persons life and background. Things like where and who he grew up with with, his education, any mental health/physical issues or neurodivergence, prior brushes with the law, drug or alcohol use etc. Probation look at all this and the current charges and recommend a sentence. The Judge on the day can go with this or do something completely different. The report can and often will be discussed in court on the day of sentencing. Anything mentioned in court can be reported. Nowadays, court reporters are often there but "remotely". There's also the Police press department who post cases on the local Police social media which is then picked up by reporters. As to which cases end up in the media is anyone's guess. My ex's case did but not until 6 weeks post sentencing. I'm sorry I can't give better news. X

Thanks Robin. I wonder if my husband did have a mugshot done on day of arrest but has somehow forgotten about it... very odd.
That's really helpful information about the PSR and what's read out in court. There's potential for really awful publicity but there's nothing I can do about it.

Hi, it's true there's nothing we can do about it but for me, it was the most awful aspect. And I'm about to go through it all again as my ex has reoffended. He's due sentencing again soon.
Hi there. Same with my person re mugshot. I can't be certain but I think when he signed the SOR they may have taken additional photographs of the tattoos that he has. x
My 16yr old son had mugshot and finger prints on day of arrest. I question whether they should have been able to do this. Together with putting in a cell. We don't even know what exactly he's accused of other than IP address and his email linked to IIOC. He's no longer on bail we are basically just left waiting for devices to be checked. Its approx 10 months since the knock. All we know if no image then case closed.
No mugshot here until he signed the SOR after sentencing. It's quite common for them not to do photos at arrest - I don't know why.
Obviously the media could scrape the internet for photos so all social media should be shut down and you should 'google' the person from another device to make sure everything is gone. Should be done a bit before sentencing as it can take a few days for the photos to go from search engines

Mugshot: taken on the day he was arrested.
background: this was done 4 weeks before he went to court for final hearing.
Media: nothing so far but it's only been 2 weeks. CJSW did say she doesn't believe his case was of public interest as there was a much much bigger case being reported at the time (Teacher at a local school)
