There was a piece on Reporting Scotland tonight about the knock. This was the first time I think that I've heard the family referred to - saying it was like delivering a death sentence to the family. How accurate that saying is.
Found it very triggering which surprised me as I thought I was coming out the other side. Can we ever distance ourselves from the offending?

I will try and find it, personally i feel it's the trauma we went through that we can't shake I think people forget it's us that can't, how do we get it to the back of our minds? I wish I knew....
I read an article about it on the BBC website, accompanied by a photo op image of a suspect being led away from the family home in handcuffs. I'm sure THAT was very helpful to the family. It felt like a puff piece for the police to be honest. Obviously the police need to do what they do, including raiding homes, but they are pretty awful & incompetent in how they treat families. And the waiting times on forensics are insane.
I started to read it and felt triggered and completely overwhelmed and have avoided BBC news website since then! It's just too raw. I also feel that if an article is written by anyone who hasn't been through it themselves, it's worthless to me. I know that's a very hardline view, but honestly you don't know until you've walked in our shoes.
Interesting article. I note that they call the man a P who is accused of a communication offence, he's still to go to court. No mention of porn addiction and no mention of wanting to find out why.
