There’s a glimmer of hope….reporting restrictions crown court

Hi, ex is in court today for sentencing.
Yesterday I gave a Police statement asking the Judge for reporting restrictions due to mine and my sons vulnerability.
I just had a call from the CPS, so the prosecution. He wanted to explain to me about the reporting restrictions issue. He said that if they went ahead with my statement, an application would have to be made to the court for the restrictions which would force the Judge to adjourn - last thing we need. There would be no point because the Judge wouldn't allow the restrictions because my son and I are over 18. That was the bad news. The glimmer of hope though is that he's going to get the Judge to read my statement but say that the ex's address is completely irrelevant because his crimes are online "only". I don't know why I didn't think of that! So his address doesn't need to be mentioned therefore the press etc can't pick it up. I'm clinging to this little bit of hope. X

Sending you all my love - I hope things get sorted today and the impact on you and your son is minimal xxx
oh I'm pleased for you! Is this a thing then if it's online only? I've not heard of that before!
Hi robin, I'm hoping for the best for you and your son. This must be a new thing or they are telling you rubbish, as my exs offence was online only and his plea was published in media with his street address and name but no picture so sorry to bring bad news this was just over a year back.
Regarding the reporting restrictions.
I emailed the court about 6 weeks ago asking for reporting restrictions due to mine and my sons vulnerabilities. They asked me to send details which I did. I didn't hear anything further until yesterday when the OIC called me. He'd seen the correspondence with the court and wanted me to make an official Police statement saying why I was asking for restrictions which I did. He said it would be given to the Barrister. Today, I got a call from the CPS prosecutor who told me that in order to get reporting restrictions an application to the court would need to be made which would mean yet another adjournment and it would be in vein because the Judge wouldn't allow it because both my son and I are over 18. However, he said that my statement would be read by the Judge and that the Judge would be asked to omit the address due to what I wrote in the statement and the fact that because the crimes were online, the address Is irrelevant. So the address wasn't made public. I've been through all this before so I'm well aware that the Police press department could release all the details of the case along with his name and mugshot. But not his address which is the same town as us. Therefore I've done all I possibly could have to prevent yet another press/fb nightmare.

don't worry, you haven't brought me any bad news.

Hoping and keeping my fingers crossed for you that there is no reporting on it. Pleased it finally went ahead and no more waiting for the day to come for sentencing. X
