Hello,

I am really hoping someone can help me.

A bit of background: My partner was arrested and bailed in August. We have a 1.5 year old and I am due to have our second child soon, therefore my partner is not allowed to live with us or have any unsupervised contact. At the moment we are still together, I am not sure if we will stay together due to what he has done.

My children are now on a child in need plan, and as I am still with my partner I am question each time I see the social worker about my judgement and if I am putting my children first, as I have said I am still with my partner for the time being but do not know about the future. I'm believed to be protective and there is no question about my parenting, but I am questioned constantly about my judgement.

As well as this, I live with other family members. When the social worker comes out I have to have the meeting in front of family members, when I have asked for privacy I am questioned on this and told that I should he talking in front of them. So now I do not feel able to ask to talk in private. The social worker also wants to meet with my mum to discuss everything as she is in my sons life, although does not live with me - do I have to agree to this?

Each time I see the social worker I feel extremely anxious, teary and stressed. I feel that I need someone there to support me, someone that is on the 'outside' that knows what my rights are and can help me speak to the social worker.

An I entitled to an advocate, and how can I get one if so? Will it go against me if I do have one?

Thank you

Hi, I don't have children so I can't advise on dealing with SS. However I did come across a website called Rights4Children and on their site they have a page to search for local advocacy services. The site is aimed at children in care, but don't let that put you off as most of the advocacy services will help if the children are also in contact with SS. Hope that helps.

I took one to my meeting. You absolutely need someone there who is supporting you. X
