Like many others our knock came on Monday.

He has been released on bail and they are currently searching through all devices found.

I am wanting to find similar stories relating to KIK accounts being hacked and strange email address added to the account.

If this sounds similar please do reach out I am hoping to find some light and desperately want reassurance.

You can search the forum for kik and there are lots of useful posts regarding the kik app, but not specifically about being hacked. The police have to have not only the kik app/username but also the IP address of your home address in order to get a warrant I think.

Could your person be trying to hide the truth? If he is adamant that he has been hacked then you'll need a decent solicitor and cyber security experts to review the devices/evidence when it gets that far. But for now it will be a long wait whilst the police search the devices. From what I have read on here 6 months to a year is not uncommon. We have only been waiting a few weeks so far so not very long into the process.

Hi Rose,

First of all, I am so sorry you are going through this. You will be okay. Whatever happens.

There have been many many posts on here about Kik, and Men claiming they were hacked. I have never once seen that to be true.

I can't give you false hope that your husband was hacked, but I can tell you that whatever the truth is you will be okay. Keep coming back to this group and reach out when you need help.

My home experienced the knock due to the use of the KIK app. What I was told-

It's a dodgy app used for dodgy things, and best avoided. Apparently when you sign up you can give any (fake) email address as your login. They don't do any checks or verification.

whether this is true (or still the case) I don't know, as personally I'd run a mile from that app or anyone who uses it so have no idea or desire to find out how it works. In fact I'd be very happy if ethical hackers do take it offline permanently.

Please protect yourself on the chance that your person is minimising or not ready to admit what they've been doing. As it may have lots of "fake email addresses" on; not because someone has hacked their account, but because they believe they won't be caught if they use fake or different email addresses. Some use a different one every time, some delete the app. But they can trace the IP address of your device and the WiFi you're connected on.

The only people who I've come across who have heard of KiK are offenders, their poor families and law enforcement.....and I used to work in IT.

My husbands case was kik related but from what I understand the police need ip address of which the app was used which in our case was our home address xx

Not to say your husband is lying, but it is common for offenders to lie and especially at first. My person denied it all until the evidence was placed directly in front of them. As others have said it is the IP address that police needs.

Does anyone else have access to your husband's phone or laptop? I think Kik is a phone app only but I could be wrong

Thank you all for your replys.

I understand some of your reasoning to say he maybe lying but I know he is not and I am 1000% sure of this.

The hack in question: under his Kik account is two usernames one being his the other (usually there is just one) is called 'lucylovebug' who he has no clue who that is or where this has come from. From my research it is very easy to access someone's IP address details.

When he was questioned he was shown a bunch of times when the app was in use some being in the middle of night. He has sleep apnea and once he is asleep hes out of it so there's literally no way that those times at 2/3am were him!

Would love to hear any similar stories.

Thanks

My OH also claims to have been hacked. Says he had the kik account from before we were together which is does say he was a member for like 3000 or whatever days. Through ID mobile his phone was hacked twice which I know for a fact as we had money stolen from our account. They allowed someone to request a PAC code and even though he contacted them to say it wasnt him they still allowed it to go through. His phone was hacked october 2023 and july 2024. Offence was in may 2024 and arrested june 2024. So he says that the only explanation is that he was hacked. They linked it to our IP address, I dont know if you can hack WiFi through a hacked device? It's so annoying, ive pleaded so much for him to just tell the truth if he is lying. But he stands strong. Also has told both our families and friends that he used to work with his version and ive told him if he is lying it would take some kind of psychopath to be able to straight out lie to that many people. You just dont know what to do for the best!!

Thanks for your reply Daisychain. Can I ask if the investigation with your OH is still going on? Have they had any bail conditions? And may I ask what they were arrested for initially?

Thanks again.

Hi

It was communications with a minor they were arrested for. The case has now been referred to the CPS since 2nd interview on the 1st may. No bail conditions anymore. They were dropped in December as you can only bail someone for 9 months without applying to court and the OIC knew it would take much longer but we dont have any involvement with children really so only needs to be supervised with any family children but its not a bail condition as such the OIC just said dont make him have to go to court about it, basically just do it without it being a bail condition
