Hi

I've seen it mentioned a couple of times contact your local MP if unhappy with how case is being dealt with or lack of movement and left in dark.

Can MPs really have any input and then the fact this isn't something to share with everyone. Or is this a good way to highlight how children accused are being dealt with.

Just thinking as we approach a year for my 17yr old son (15 when whatever happened occurr). Already ruined his first year of college and sure he's got PTSD.

From my experience working in the civil service, an MPs letter will be given top priority. We had a special team set up just to deal with them.

I expect the police would argue that the delay is "normal", given that they probably have a backlog of devices to examine. On the other hand, if the case has become lost in the system, due to the OIC leaving the force for example, then this would help to speed things up.

I have a feeling that they will not want to get involved in an active investigation, I considered this also. I contacted the Police Fire and Crime Comissioner - absolute waste of time !

Ultimately, whether or not to contact your MP is your choice, but it could be a step toward getting some movement, or at the very least, shedding light on an important issue. Stay strong—you’re doing your best to support your son through this.

I really can't see a MP wanting to put his name to a case like this .

the time frames are so frustrating. It's really not fair . Not for the person who has committed these horrible crimes but the families and innocent people it all effects .

I do feel that your local MP should be made aware of the long delays that youths are experiencing. It means many go through the system not being treated as youths (under 18's) when it comes to charging and court and end up being sentenced as an Adult.

The MP will act in the strictest confidence. No one will know about their involvement, apart from the police dealing with the enquiry. They have a duty to represent ALL of their constituents. That includes people convicted of crimes, the ones who are in prisons and those under investigation.
