Hi all.

We are on a child in need plan, short term to get hubby back home. We have eight sessions to complete with the social worker - some on my own, some on his own, some together. They've got titles - anyone else recognise this or know a bit more about what might be discussed in each one?

They include:

*past relationships

*the offence and why we are here

*case studies

*childhood history

*information session

Can't offer any advice but at least your authority seem to be following correct procedures. My daughter was a child in need for two months, they did nothing and escalated us to child protection without doing any written child in need planning or putting safety measures in place.

It looks like they want to build up a profile of you as people and a family. Your childhood experiences, they will want to look at whether you have experienced any trauma as a child yourself, if you have - they use it against you. They will want to know if you have ever been abused, witnessed any abuse, what education qualifications you have ie did you have a decent upbringing yourself.

Not sure if any other ladies on here have gone through proper child in need planning xx

I'm 7 months into having a child in need plan which is in place due to the accusations. So far it's just been every 3 weeks the same questions again and again then the occasional leading question or open questjon where there technically is no right answer but you know they want a specific answer. They've not really delved into any of my history. They're quiet happy with our care of our daughter and say we are doing everything possible but they're still not happy.

You have to jump through a lot of hoops I'm afraid.

I've recently gone through similar (just at the end)

we got NFA but as we were still in CIN they've carried on.

The knock for us was last June, NFA came this June. We've had 2 assessments, first initial one which closed after 6 weeks as they were happy with my safety plan.

Second one triggered when bail conditions were changed, that was horrific and SW told us he could come home then on Xmas Eve said her manager has said no.

She then escalated to CIN and we had another new SW.

No risk assessors in our area so they had to outsource it.

We were told 5 sessions each and one together but once they started talking to us they shortened it to 3 each and one together.

Mine were all about my understanding of the offence and realising who all the victims were. Discussing what I need moving forward and what I'm worried about.

my husbands were about his childhood, life before me, past relationships, discussing the offence etc. They also requested a full police check. (Came back clear)

Our joint session we assumed was a safety plan moving forward but they were more like marriage counsellors. None of the sessions have been child focused.

We are now in a few weeks wait whilst they build their report and then they will meet with us to put their recommendations forward.

Then it can't start (him come home) until they have shared the whole safety plan with school and college at the next CIN on the 11th September. Then it's a 3 month trial.
