Sorry if this has been asked before... plea hearing is coming up and just wondering what to expect from the day. Im going along to the court dates more for my own closure, rather than support. So any advice on what I can do to help distance myself from any media etc?
Thanks
Thanks
Hi daisy. In my persons case he was told to turn up at a specified time. He went a little earlier to meet with his solicitor. He then just waited for his name to be called. I didn't attend but from what he told me charges were read out. He pleaded guilty. It didn't take very long. Was given a date for crown court. Told to speak to the person who was there from probation so they could take details to arrange a pre sentence report. He then went to sign the SOR. There was no media report of this but there was when he was sentenced. Hope this is helpful x
Hi Daisychain,
I went with my husband to the plea hearing. His case was scheduled for 10:45, his solicitor arrived at 10:40 to go over his plea (that is another story re:the chocolate teapot solicitor), he was called into court and had to stand independently from myself, he was asked to confirm his name, current address and date of birth, the charges were read and the magistrate asked how he pled, he pleaded guilty and was then instructed to return within 4 weeks for sentencing. He was also told to sign the SOR at our local police station. I sat at the very back of court and there was a guy sitting further along the bench from me, I noticed he was typing on a laptop and I asked him if he was the press, he nodded yes. I knew we had to avoid him leaving court so we masked our faces, OH put dark glasses and a beanie hat on and I opened my umbrella when leaving the exit, he was waiting outside the court building and tried to get a photo but was unsuccessful, however he went away and researched social media and even though we had both come off what we thought was everythingm he did find an old LinkedIn account that my OH had totally forgotten about and bingo, he had access to his full career history, personal details and a lovely big photograph of him on a cruise that had been a special occasion for us, he had enough information to cover x 2 full pages.
The press are not allowed to name any accompanying person or take their photograph. I was referred to as being a woman supporting the offender!! I hope all goes well and you avoid the press, they really are awful. We had the same scenario at sentencing which again was a nightmare as our adult son was with us but they didn't try to get a photo as they already had one. Xxx

Thank you for your replies. I will be deleting all social media and i wont be having anything to do with him on the day. Sounds like i wont hear much apart from the charges and guilty plea which im aware of? I was hoping to hear more about what was involved more for my own closure. As i never know if i can trust him. Hes been quite vague as he denies doing it but been told to plead guilty as to prove he's been hacked is very hard.
My OH/Ex, I dunno what on earth he is at the minute, is going to go and live with his parents. He will give that address in court. Is that okay without him being registered there or will I need to set all that up in terms of council tax etc beforehand?
