Youth court experiences

I'm not sure whether this should go in the family section - but this board is usually busier.
Can anyone help me prepare for (hopefully - still can't believe this is my reality but here were are) youth court?
Is it pretty much adult court but slightly less formal? Are suits to be worn? Or just smartish stuff?
I feel sick just thinking about it, but forwarned is forearmed...

Although I have no firsthand experience of being inside a youth court in session I do occasionally support witnesses for a youth trial, in a volunteer role which I have. From that I know that the courtroom is closed so no members of the public can wander in as they can in other courts, including members of the press. I also know that the defendant sits in the main part of the room and not in the dock (in my courts anyway as adult defendants are in a glassed in booth), and if it's a judge then he/she isn't all wigged up so looks less scary. I would imagine that judges and magistrates vary in how they preside and how stern or friendly they are generally. Is there anything specific you'd like to know as if nobody with personal experience answers (as I'm sure they will) I can find out for you. Happy to reply privately if you'd prefer xx
