Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they suspect about my brother's case direction.

Police arrived at his work in June this year and arrested him for an offence relating to June/July the year before.

The police could not find the device linked to the offence but have an account on kik they believe to be linked to him.

Police took his laptop, his phone, a historic phone unused for half a decade (and widely used by someone else in that time), an ipad he has not used since he was a minor and some memory sticks unused.

Police renewed his bail remotely for a December bail review and informed him that his devices are awaiting download or being analysed.

Does this trend suggest triage found something clearly illegal, a window of enquiry or nothing?

Does this fit your experiences of a nfa or a charge?

Honestly I don’t think it gives a clear answer either way, the devices are going to be sent for forensics regardless of what triage shows, not finding anything on triage may mean there’s nothing to find, alternatively there may be data to find its just not being picked up by the triage software or has been deleted and needs the specialist digital forensics to recover.

Your person is going to remain under investigation until the forensics report is completed, only then can they decide on NFA or charge.

Sadly I don't think any of us will be able to give you the answer you want. Evidence can be gained from different sources so even if the devices are clear there may be evidence elsewhere. I know how hard it is waiting for an outcome and unfortunately that wait is far too long.
How is your brother doing? Is he getting support and have you both considered contacting the LFF helpline as they can offer you both advice and support.

My husband was arrested just before Christmas, we had second interview 2 weeks ago but we were fast tracked due to my daughter being under 1 at the time of arrest and they wanted to disturb her life as little as possible and I was at the time under the perinatal mental health team, or I think we would still be waiting for forensics.

The only good thing out of all of this is my daughter is thriving. She is loving all the family involvement in her life right now.
