I'd be interested to know this. What happens when a child turns 18 but is still in eduction in terms of contact? They're technically an adult but do the safeguarding of those institutions step in to say anything about contact?
Hi, I was worrying that once charged they may not be able to remain in education, even if under 18. I hope they can though, does anyone know? X
My understanding is that they always try to keep people in education where possible as this is a protective factor in rrehabilitation. We have just been to enroll today and despite being stressful all worked out OK.
The police gave general guidance in not being unsupervised with anyone under 18 and to notify them if he will be in a house for more than 24 hours where children live but there were no specific prohibitions in the SHPO around being near children.
I hope this helps to reassure anyone going through similar.

That's really good to hear that they want to keep people in education.
What sort of things were on the shpo? Xx

We had knock just before my son started 6th form. We were worried and it did have to go through safeguarding at college. At time my son was on bail but the OIC made sure it allowed my son to go to college. College safeguarding were helpful also and supporting.
We are still awaiting devices checking so he's starting his 2nd year in September.

With any kind of criminal conviction college safeguarding will complete a risk assessment and from their will assess if they will accept individual, and if so what will need to be put in place to safeguard them and everyone.
