Has anyone received any counselling from Lucy Faithfull/Stop It Now?

I was told several months ago that someone would get in touch. I appreciate there are lots of people who are seeking help, but I've just never had any updates as to how long things are likely to take.

I've even tried getting counselling via my doctor, but that isn't going to happen.

I can't afford to go private, so no idea what my options are?

You can do a self referral for NHS talking therapies. I found it helpful regarding CBT for anxiety etc... xx

I've done that and in all honesty, it wasn't what I was expecting. I thought I would be talking to a counsellor, not completing questionnaires.

Im glad it worked for you xx

I think circles offer specific counsellling for families in our postion.

there is a south east one and a south west one.

but it's also worth looking in the resources section as there is lots there on this

I don't know if it's exactly what you are looking for but I've been doing a course through Pivotal Recovery, specifically aimed at partners of porn/sex addiction. I think it was £90 and is 16 pre recorded sessions. I am finding it really helpful to try and understand everything and to cope with the s**t show that is my life right now x

Thanks so much stressedandanxious, the course looks incredibly helpful and currently £50. Might give it a go as so many fluctuating feelings right now. Hope everyone finds something helpful

It is all based around you and your stability. Some of the sessions have been a real eye opener and have given me a lot to think about.

I like to have all the details and try and control situations, this is teaching me that I can't do that.
I'm also reading a book called 'Let them theory' by Mel Robbins. This is also really good and helps to look at how I deal with situations and my expectations of other people.

Whilst I accept absolutely no responsibility for the situation I am now in, I am looking at how I react and deal with things. I have ended up feeling somewhat depressed and anxious, this is something I have never struggled with in my life and it's making me look at what I can do to feel better and feel happier in life. The Pivotal course and the let them theory book are really helping me to focus on me. I think we all deserve to put ourselves first to get through this.
