Hi All,

My husband was arrested in 2017 for IIOC in all 3 categories. He wasn't convicted until 2020. He was category 1. He got a 2 years suspended sentence and 5 years SOR. He is now off probation and off SOR. I am pregnant with my first child and due in Feb. I got a call from SS today who have made a referral.

What will this entail? I am so confused as I had been told once off the SOR, as he was category 1, there would be no involvement. Has anyone dealt with this and know what to expect? Will he have to move out?

Hi Jolene,

I noticed your post didn't have a reply yet and I wanted to acknowledge that you must be feeling worried and nervous right now. I hope you have a good support network around you.

I haven't personally been through what you have but I have had a safeguarding made to SS for my child. I would say that they will want to ensure you are able to keep your child safe. They are likely to expect no contact with the offender as this is the the best way to keep your child safe. You have a lot of difficult decisions ahead and I am sending my positive thoughts your way.
