Hi, we are coming up to the first court day and I'm very nervous. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on trying to keep things as low key as possible.

The idea of all of the possible consequences is truly unbearable. I know that this person has done wrong, but the idea of them going to prison/ being in the papers/ being attacked by vigalantes is horrific.

Does anyone have any advice to prepare for court. Is it better to try cover their face, or would that draw more attention to it? Should they delete social media, or will that just invite questions? Are photographers visible outside the court?

My mind is going round in circles, and I'm finding it very hard to cope. I haven't told friends or family, so I'm feeling pretty isolated. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi, just wanted to respond and wish you all the best for the court visit. Do you have a solicitor? Ours talked us through the process so that we had a reasonable idea of what to expect beforehand including, in our case, taking a prison bag (thankfully not needed). Personally I'd say not to cover his face - apart from anything the court building was so busy with people coming and going that nobody paid any attention. There was a reporter lurking and our solicitor had a word with him, told him it was 'just a few images' and he went away - we were particularly lucky as there was a big case going on that day so all interest was focussed on that instead.

Our son didn't want us to go into the hearing itself and I'm glad we didn't - I'm not sure there's much worth in putting yourself through that, although everyone is different of course.

Hope it all goes OK x
