Hi, it is early days for us but I am just trying to work things out but it is so difficult.

Can anyone advise roughly how much fees could be. He will be pleading guilty. But i am aware he needs a barrister for crown court and solicitor? I assume just solicitor for magistrates? Does my income come into it for legal aid? Just concerned at how much it is all going to cost?

I would appreciate it for any advice.

Thank you

Hi there. My person was a guilty plea. Solicitor for plea hearing. Then they instructed barrister for sentencing at crown court. He paid £3000 maybe a little more. Hope this is helpful x

We paid close to £10k as we ended in crown court with barrister.
It was a ridiculous amount of money, but absolutely worth it for the outcome we got.

We are just about to go to plea and paid over £7000 just for precharge stuff including 2 more interviews. We knew it was dreadfully expensive but were so stressed by the police officer's behaviour (seems so silly of us now but at the time.......) and we wanted to have a spokesperson to be a middle person for the investigation to spare our stress a bit. We had no idea of costs generally and probably should have done some research.

We are now tightening our belts ready for the next amount which will be more expense but we decided it was far better to think in hindsight that we could have managed without than regretting not instructing one. We are using most of our savings to help our son but we are very grateful that we have those savings to start with as I know many others don't but also earn too much for legal aid. I suspect we chose an expensive firm but how on earth do you know!!

Must add that from some other posts on the forum there have been others who have paid far less than us and been happy with the help and advice they received.

Thank you everyone.

I had thought maybe 5k would have been around how much it would be but now I think I should prepare for nearer 10k. We instructed a solicitor on day 2 and have been getting advice regarding various things and they are also keeping all SS info and we are keeping them updated on that too.

Dont know how we will pay it but we will make it work. Whatever to get best outcome. Although if he is still not allowed home due to SS and still having to rent, then maybe they will not take my income into account and we may get some legal aid!

I suppose only time will tell.

Thank you.
