Waiting is agony

4 months since the knock and still no news. I've read other stories on here that the wait can be as long as up to 2 years before point of charging. the waiting game is pure torture and agony.
the knock was for my dad, married to my mum for over 40 years which has left us all absolutely devastated and we haven't seen him since, he's not the man we thought we knew and loved! I have children (his grandchildren) and not risking having contact with him as don't want social involved. We are grieving for him as a family for the man we thought was our husband/dad/grandad but on the other hand hate what he has done to us all, totally ripped our world apart.
the police whilst sympathetic seem reluctant to tell us anything and my fear is we will find out when he is charged via the local media like everyone else which just doesn't sit right with me. Is there any other way to get updates if your not in contact with the person?

I'm not in contact with the person either, but every 3 months I email the OIC and ask if bail has been extended. He can tell me that it has and restrictions still apply regarding children. A month ago he was also able to tell me that the case has gone to CPS. I'm now checking courtserve but it could be months before a plea hearing.
It's not much info but it's something at least. I agree it is absolute torture not knowing all the information when it affects your life so deeply.

Well I emailed the investigating officer who I haven't spoken to since July (we are now almost 5 months on from the knock) he has said he cannot tell me anything about the investigation all he can say is that the investigation is still ongoing so the 3 month bail must've been extended at least to the 6 month mark... he just said that these investigations can take a considerable amount of time! I just hope if/when they press charges if they have the decency and compassion to notify us before the local press, surely they should be able to do that!?
