Dear Forum Users,

If you’ve been impacted by someone else’s online sexual offending involving children, you might be experiencing a range of different emotions to what has happened, and the person of concern. These are incredibly difficult emotions to carry, and it’s okay if you’re struggling. You’re not alone.

Many people in this forum have shared how difficult it can be to make sense of what’s happened, especially when the person involved is someone they care about. It’s normal to feel like your world has been turned upside down. You might be asking yourself: "How do I move forward?" and "will things ever feel okay again?"

What if I don’t feel any hope?

Sometimes, hope feels completely out of reach. That’s okay. You don’t have to force yourself to feel hopeful. Instead, try to focus on what’s right in front of you—one day, one moment at a time.

If hope feels distant:

- Let someone else hold it for you. Whether it’s a friend, a support worker, or someone here on the forum—lean on others until you’re ready to carry it yourself.
- Talk about how you’re feeling. You don’t have to go through this alone. Sharing your story can help you feel less isolated.
- Be kind to yourself. You didn’t cause this, and you deserve support.

Finding strength in small steps

Strength doesn’t always look like big, bold actions. Sometimes it’s just getting through the day. Sometimes it’s asking for help. Sometimes it’s making a cup of tea. Sometimes it’s posting here, even if you’re not sure what to say.

Holding on to hope

Hope can be quiet. It can be the belief that things can change, even if you don’t know how yet. It can be the knowledge that you’re not alone, and that others have found a way through.

Kind regards,

The Forum Team
