Hello.

my children are 12 and 11.
their father currently requires supervision due to a shop and a court order saying he can only have them every other weekend.
he pled guilty to attempting to have a sexual conversation with a minor online.

there have been a couple of occasions he has breached the orders and not had supervision. Nothing has come of it though as no proof.

I would like to change my children's surnames to that of me, their step father, half baby brother and step sister.

I know their father won't agree so I am up for it to go to court if needs be.

I don't want them to have that association by name and want to limit that connection as much as I can without stopping co tact and going against the court orders.
I also want them to feel a part of our family, the family they are with 90% of the time. I don't want to have to explain they are my children every time I take them on holiday.

Their father changed his surname when he was 16 so his name is now his mothers maiden name, which she doesn't even use anymore. So no family connection.

do you think I'd be able to?

Unless the family courts have removed his parental responsibility rights, then you must get his permission to change their surname.

If he does not agree, you can apply to the court to have it changed. They will allow it if it is in the best interest of the child.
