So after a long 9 months we might be getting past the worst part of social involvement. OH finally had a specialist risk assessment and he's come out low risk which is the lowest he could get. Im so relived but I know there is still a lot of work to do. 7 months of solo parenting with OH being out the house but they've said he'll be home before Xmas, so fingers crossed. There on about dropping him down to CIN soon too.

Just wanted to say thankyou to everyone who has helped and given advice over the past year.

I'm in the same boat, Daughter been on a CPP for 15 months! They escalated to PLO just get a specialist risk assessment done. He has come back low risk aswell and SW told us the case will be dropped to CIN at the next conference next week. It was a rough ride x

So pleased for you. Social workers see the worst in people as soon as they hear the word p. Through taking with the specialist risk assessor that's not the case, people are only p,s when they are diagnosed. And they don't try and understand the underlying story. Our sw was adamant that he was a danger to our son and would harm him but she's been proven wrong and is on the side of getting him home.

Can I ask if your OH was asked to leave?

Yes my OH hasn't been allowed to live at the house since June 2024! The conference next week is going to be very interesting!

Am I right in thinking the bail conditions weren't an issue in this respect? For us it is more that than the SW that is causing our issue for my OH to come home.

Yes- bail conditions were in place from August 2023 to June 2024. When bail conditions were dropped, that's when SS put their own plan in place and wouldn't let him live at the house x

Hi there, I am new to this forum and hoping for some help with regards accessing or commissioning a specialist risk assessment for my OH who is currently under police investigation for IIOC. I notice you referenced your OH undertaking a specialist risk assessment and wondered if that is something you commissioned yourself, or whether that was something SS instigated?

SS are making life hell, and I am basically at war with them, as they are applying what appears to be their one size fits all approach to every case involving IIOC and not allowing OH to live in the house/overnights, despite me making a very strong case for why I don't believe he poses a risk, and producing lots of evidence of reports/stats re the low link between internet and contact offences. Add to that all the steps OH has/is taken/taking which demonstrates meaningful positive changes. But I feel like I am being punished for staying with him, and they are trying to strongarm me into leaving and breaking my family up. Can't actually believe this is my life : (

My OH was seeing a StopSo therapist on a weekly basis for a number of months. The therapist produced a report which said he is low risk and the chances of it becoming a contact offence is negligible. SS completely dismissed this report on the grounds that:

1- They don't believe that my OH told the therapist the full details of the conversation (which he did)

2- Because my OH paid for the service they don't see it as an independent report.

They ended up escalating us to PLO so they could commission their own report. The findings are exactly the same as the StopSo therapist. They now look absolutely stupid. Budgets are tight at LA's and funding shouldn't come into it but a few of us have been escalated to PLO just so funding can be secured for specialist assessments.

Unfortunately one size fits all with SS- everybody is automatically high risk with them I'm afraid. Then they start working backwards.

Is your OH under probation? SS are heavily swayed by probation and if your OH can get them onside that will go in your favour. My OH had massive issues with his probation officer.

xx
