Hi fellow travellers along the bumpy road....can any of you that have had the 2nd interview pls share what it consisted of? How long was it? Who was there? If device had been examined by forensics and poluce had the report of what iioc was found, were they still trying to get person to admit to more? And any other info pls! My person's interview is next week and he is sh**ting himself. Solicitor will be in attendance and we do trust him. Many thanks

My OHs 2nd interview lasted about an hour - solicitor advised him beforehand to go 'no comment' which he did.

OIC had questions about what had been found during the forensic investigation into his device (phone). The initial arrest was for attempted communication. They had found a couple of other questionable conversations and 2 IIOC. OH had no recollection of any of this but had been suffering a mental breakdown at the time the offences were committed.

He was bailed again for 6 weeks while the evidence went to CPS then charged. Awaiting sentencing at the beginning of November.

I hope it goes ok for you both xx

Thank you. It helps to hear of others' experiences.

I hope you are both doing ok, and that the sentence is not too harsh.

Go well....

Hi 6789, the thought of a second interview must be very worrying when the mind is still struggling with the memories and trauma from the first one.

Has your person considered being upfront and honest in the interview so that everything is out in the open and there's no fear of other evidence coming to light at a later date? Fearing what evidence could be found must cause so much anxiety whereas knowing there is nothing else to be found might be easier to live with.

Ocean

In my OHs case he went into the 2nd interview with no anxiety as he honestly believed there was nothing to find. He assumed it was to further discuss the reason for the initial arrest.

He was completely blindsided by the fact that there were other conversations and 2 IIOC. I have to add none of this was found 'on his phone' but online. His phone itself was clear.

His mental health was in such a state at the time he offended he had no recollection of any of it. I know that sounds like an excuse - it's not - mental health or not he shouldn't have done what he did.

I'm relieved that he went no comment in his 2nd interview - I think if the solicitor advises to do that it's probably best that they do. The police have a way of twisting responses so even the most innocuous statement could later be used against the accused.

Hi Ocean, Yes he will be completely upfront and honest, there has never been a question about that.

Thanks for your input :)

Hi Lostinwoods,

The more I hear about how these cases are handled the more outraged and horrified I am. So many of the offenders were, or are, vulnerable for one reason or another, and often the treatment they receive seems to be so inapproriate and unkind.

My person will be following the solicitor's lead, and as far as we know that will be to say No comment, or else the solicitor will answer the police's Q's by way of a pre-prepared statement, so we are hoping Person won't have to answer much at all.

We are both anxious though. I will pop up another post about something else that has cropped up.

Hi 6789

I hope you are allowed to attend as the appropriate adult. Try not to worry too much. It may be that you hear some things that you don't want to hear, but at least you'll have all the facts which for me has made things easier. OH gave me full disclosure so I've seen the evidence - as hard as it was to read and speak about it hasn't changed my support for him.

My OH wasn't advised to go no comment in his initial interview. He told them what he could remember and answered their questions as best he could, and yet they still tried putting words in his mouth, twisting what he had said to suit their narrative.

I know the result would have been the same if he hadn't answered and made them do their job of investigating instead but I don't think the duty solicitor did him any favours. In fact her first words to him were 'you will go to prison for this'. Needless to say we found a different solicitor pretty quick!

I will be thinking of you and your person xx

Thank you Lostinwoods. I will try not to over-worry, yes, but the whole process is excrutiating. I hadn't considered that more evidence might be brought out as our solicitor had asked the police for the totality of what had been found by forensics, so I am hoping we know it all already, but we shall see, soon now. The anxiety for Person is about the sense of being on trial, and to have to go back into the building where he was locked in a cell all day in a state of utter shock and distress after he was arrested. He is still deeply traumatised from that.

Thanks for your support.
