Hi, I'm interested to know what timescales we are all dealing with, I know it can be years but would you mind telling me your actual timelines? My son has just had the first 3 months bail pushed another 3 months. I'm still hoping he can graduate next year before it goes to court! Thank you x

My son just had notification of second extension which will take us to 9 months in the summer. When arrested they said likely 12-18 months.

Nine months to plea hearing, then two more to sentencing.

22 month between arrest and sentencing. Devices checked and returned within the first couple of months but backwards and forwards between CPS and police several times.

Just over two years, knock came when 18 but luckily still heard in the Juvenile court not sure if this was because he was only 17 at the time of offence or just pure luck.

Arrest to plea was 6 months, then another month for sentence (which then went on another month as went to crown court)

My 21 year old son is 1 year post-knock and his bail has been extended for another 3 months. The justice system in this country is totally broken.

Knock was Sept 24 heard nothing so far so still in limbo went to RUA at 16 months. The waiting is making me so ill, feel like its already a prison sentence we don't go anywhere or see anyone. Everyone is so down I just wish I knew there was an end in sight one way or another. Hope everyone who is waiting gets answers soon.

It's true Lostmum, we are all prisoners, and suspects too. We hardly go out due to him being on SOR and having a shpo, and outside it would just be too easy to inadvertently break the rules and for him then to be re-arrested - simpler to stay in the 'prison' of home.

Plus, any time I go out, he has to go out too because neither of us are ok about the police making an unannounced visit without me being here, and if they turned up and he was home alone he would obvs have to let them in.

Yup. Imprisoned. In a way it would be easier if he had got a custodial sentence, as in actual prison he couldn't - in all innocence - break rules! I am glad he didn't get a prison sentence tho, of course!

3.5 years arrest to sentencing. 2 yrs for phone download to come back. Multiple delays only communicated at last minute.

most brutal and traumatising experience ever

Initial arrest July '23, plea May '26 and sentencing due June '26. It's been a very long journey!

My ex's dates:

Arrested & devices seized on Sept 2023 (suspected offence was IIOC). Forensics too eighteen months. Then another six months (!!!!) while CPS decided what to do. His plea hearing was last month and he has pleaded not guilty. The trial is unlikely to take place till 2027.
