Good evening everyone :)

It was my ex partners sentencing today, he got 18 months and was told he would only serve half, with a further discount for guilty plea. So all in all he will probably serve around 5 months plus the 2 months he has already spent on remand. I’m gutted he didn’t get a longer sentence though, as are all my loved ones.

I have also told my children tonight that their dad is in prison, they handled it very well and I tried to give them plenty of facts without telling them what his offences were. I’ve not told them his sentence as I don’t want them being under pressure and counting down the days until he is out.

He will also have to sign the sex offenders register for 5 years but will remain on it indefinitely.

It hasn’t quite sunk in yet but the kids have been talking about him and we found some good resources on the prison advice and care trust website https://www.prisonadvice.org.uk/Pages/Category/for-children

Hopefully we can close this chapter of our book and move on with the rest of our lives, as strong family unit.

In a way I feel I can breathe again, knowing he is properly ‘locked up’!

I was dreading telling my 2 but just had to be honest and open with them. I’m so proud of the way they have handled it, although it will be tough we will just take each day as it comes.
