How long and what next.

Hello, my son has gotten into some trouble last year. During summer he downloaded some videos and pictures he shouldn't have off the deep web. He also had drawings on his computer that he shouldn't have. I am told he deleted the videos and pictures but not the drawings. Then in september our house had a search warrant and all devices were taken away. He was 17 in summer bbut just turned 18 for the house search. He explained it to them and said he would like to cooperate as he is planning to going university this year. They said they will call back to him. That was last september, early october. It is now march and we haven't heard back amd he is stressing out since he wants to go university. What should we do and how long could it take? Thank you.
From what I've read across the forums, it depends on the area. Some people hear back within weeks and others are years.
We heard back within around 4 months and had the case closed the following week but I believe that is pretty quick compared to others.

As stated above it depends on how stretched the police force is, the number of devices to review and the number of images/videos found.
It can take a few months between each stage. 1) interview (might be more than one). 2. Charging 3. Sentencing. That is the general order I think. Unfortunately by looking at majority of posts it seems average time is over Ia year i am sorry to say. But in the meantime I recommend your son contacts Lucy faithful to find support and work on rehabilitation to tackle the underlying issues as to why they viewed prohibited material. Until they are sentenced (if it gets that far) they won't get much support unless they reach out themselves. There is also support for families too so you may wish to contact Lucy faithful as well.

Hi Man
We're in a very similar situation but for our side it has been over 2 and a half years since we've last had contact with the police and he RUI'd. Did they arrest your son.
