He was guilty of making iioc, he was in a chat room on Kik and somebody posted some links which he klicked on, the judge accepted that he hadn't searched for them, didn't know what they were before he saw them, and that there was a low number, less than 30 ...

Making is also used when images are forwarded on. If an image was on your file share network such as KIK it is said to be making or distributing. X

Kik has caused a lot of problems for those with iioc. Files can be sent and shared easily and there can be whole folders sent. When my husband recieved his first illegal content it was in a folder with legal images.

I'm hoping someone on here might have a better understanding of Kik than I do. Am I correct in thinking it's similar to whatsap in the sense of, if someone sends you a picture/message it's automatically on your phone without you having to select to download it?

Thankyou for your reply! It was linked to him as it was his work IP address and his picture used on the profile hence the arrest. He's so far denied all of it, says he's never heard of Kik, never downloaded the app ect. I'm partly glad nothing was found but ...
